BDIC, Celebrate Major Awards, Drives National TVET Apprenticeship Reform.
The Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) has solidified its position as a leader in Nigeria’s digital transformation landscape, winning the Best State ICT Agency Award at the recently concluded Bureau of Public Sector Reform, BPSR and GovTech Awards held at the Presidential Villa last weekend.
The prestigious recognition highlights BDIC’s innovative contributions to digital infrastructure development and its commitment to leveraging technology for socio-economic progress in Benue State and across the nation.
Equally celebrated was BDIC’s Managing Director and CEO, Gbande-Hembaor Terwase, who was bestowed the Trailblazer Award. This honor acknowledges his visionary leadership and groundbreaking work in championing ICT initiatives and public service excellence. His stewardship has propelled BDIC to the forefront of technological advancement and workforce empowerment in Nigeria.
The timing of these awards is significant as BDIC currently plays a pivotal role in a critical national event—the Multi-Stakeholder National Public Dialogue on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) apprenticeship systems, happening in Abuja. This two-day dialogue gathers influential stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, the German Development Agency (GIZ), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the International Labour Organization (ILO), all working collaboratively to reform and institutionalize Nigeria’s apprenticeship frameworks.
BDIC’s contribution to the dialogue underscores its deep commitment to tackling Nigeria’s youth unemployment and skill development challenges. Gbande-Hembaor Terwase advocates for integrating digital infrastructure into apprenticeship systems, emphasizing the importance of equipping youth with the digital skills necessary to thrive in today’s economy. BDIC’s partnership with the Digital Bridge Institute exemplifies this approach by providing cutting-edge digital training and innovation opportunities to apprentices.
The dialogue aims to harmonize views from all sectors on how to strengthen institutional frameworks, secure sustainable funding, and build the digital infrastructure necessary to scale up TVET apprenticeship programs nationwide. BDIC’s leadership in these discussions demonstrates its role as an innovator at the intersection of technology and vocational education, working towards a future where apprenticeships serve as vital channels for sustainable employment and national growth.
Winning the BPSR and GovTech awards complements BDIC’s ongoing work in advancing Nigeria’s workforce development agenda. The recognition of both BDIC and Gbande-Hembaor Terwase sends a clear message about their impact and influence, not only as champions of digital transformation but also as architects of a robust, technology-enabled TVET ecosystem that empowers Nigerian youth and drives socio-economic development.
As BDIC continues to expand its footprint across Nigeria’s digital infrastructure sector, the company and its CEO are setting new benchmarks for excellence in public service, innovation, and inclusive workforce development. Their achievements mark a transformative chapter in Nigeria’s journey to build a digitally inclusive economy and create sustainable opportunities for young Nigerians.
