In a significant stride toward inclusive digital transformation, the Managing Director/CEO of Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC), Mr. Gbande Hembaor Terwase, on Sunday undertook an inspection of the installation systems, grail software, and learning infrastructure at the First Benue State Special ICT Centre for People with Disabilities. The visit followed his attendance at Sunday service and underscores the state government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no segment of the population is left behind in the digital economy revolution.
The establishment of this Special ICT Centre represents a bold statement by the Benue State Government, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, to advance digital inclusion and accessibility for all. Through BDIC, in partnership with the Africa Digital Infrastructure Company Ltd (AfDIC), the initiative integrates assistive technologies, inclusive learning systems, and adaptive digital tools designed to empower persons with disabilities with essential digital skills, fostering both economic participation and social inclusion.
By leveraging innovative learning platforms and specialized ICT infrastructure, the centre is designed to break barriers that have historically limited access to technology and education for persons with disabilities. This model promotes inclusive digital literacy, bridging the accessibility gap and ensuring that every citizen, regardless of physical condition, can contribute meaningfully to the state’s growing digital ecosystem.
This milestone reinforces the determination of the Benue State Government to align with national and continental digital transformation agendas. Through the efforts of BDIC and AfDIC, Benue State continues to position itself as a pioneer in inclusive digital development, creating equitable opportunities for learning, innovation, and empowerment while showcasing the administration’s forward-looking commitment to human capital development through technology.
