In a significant stride towards advancing Benue State’s digital economy, Gbande Hembaor Terwase, the Managing Director/CEO of Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC), on 28th January, 2025 at the e-governance center, Nigerian Public Service Institute Abuja.
Joined Honorable Kwaghgba Amande, Commissioner of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Mr. Solomon Adagba, Director General of Benue State Digital Infrastructure Services Management Enforcement Agency (BENDISMEA), and Mr. Ashar Benjamin, Acting Director of E-Governance, Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy to participate in the IT Penetration Evaluation and Assessment for States (IPEAS).
Organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency ( NITDA) for the North Central states of Benue, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and Plateau, respectively.
The IPEAS initiative, spearheaded by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), aims to:
1. Monitor IT trends at the state level
2. Attract and increase Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) opportunities in states.
3. Harness untapped resources within states.
4. Provide information about the status of NITDA projects in states.
5. Categorize and rate states based on their IT maturity levels.
By measuring IT transformation and the levels of digitalization across states, IPEAS emphasizes three core components: manpower, data, and technology.

The participation aligns seamlessly with Benue State’s ongoing digital infrastructure revolution under the leadership of His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. Through BDIC, the state is committed to driving initiatives that integrate cutting-edge technology to enhance digital access, revenue generation, job creation, and investment opportunities.

Speaking at the event, the MD/CEO BDIC emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in achieving the state’s digital transformation goals. He also, highlighted how IPEAS complements Benue’s strategies by providing critical insights into IT trends, fostering partnerships, and ensuring that the state remains competitive in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
