In strict compliance with the directive of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) be fully digitally automated before 30th November 2025, the Office of the Head of Service (OHOS) has taken the lead in ensuring the effective realization of this mandate.
Following the Governor’s directive, the Head of Service (HOS), Prince Moses Agbogbo Ode Ph.D, promptly constituted a Digital Transformation Task Team (DTTT) within the Office of the Head of Service to coordinate its digital automation efforts. Since its inauguration, the DTTT has been driving the process with focus, innovation, and consistency to ensure full compliance within the stipulated timeframe. Strategic Milestones Achieved so far by the team includes the Development of the Digital Compliance Plan, conduct of a Baseline Assessment and Readiness Review, Dissemination of the approved compliance plan and Stakeholder Interface. Part of the implementation plan is to ensure readiness of staff for the automation.In view of this, the OHOS in partnership with BDIC, has kick started a training for over 90 staff members of the OHOS on full automation of systems and workflow. The training, holding in Makurdi, is designed to equip participants with practical digital skills essential for automating administrative processes and improving service delivery.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, the HOS, Chief Moses Agbogbo Ode Ph.D commended BDIC for the flourishing partnership towards digital transformation, describing the training as timely and impactful. He emphasized that the skills acquired would enhance workflow automation, data management and overall administrative efficiency, adding that all MDAs should follow in the footsteps of the OHOS and comply with His Excellency’s directives for full automation by 30th November, 2025.Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/CEO of BDIC, Mr. Gbande Hembaor Terwase, described the initiative as a strategic step in realizing the vision of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, to build a digitally driven and efficient public sector. He noted that digitization remains central to achieving transparency, accountability, and innovation in governance.
The mandatory digitization initiative, jointly driven by OHOS in partnership with BDIC is part of a broader effort to transform the State into a Model of e governance and digital excellence. The programme underscores the Governor Alia-led administration’s resolve to make digital literacy and technology adoption a cornerstone of public sector reforms. The training which will last till Thursday 30th October 2025, is one of many other activities organised by the OHOS to ensure compliance with His Excellency’s automation deadline.
