Driving Digital Transformation in Benue State: BDIC Partners with Digital Bridge Institute

As part of our commitment and strategic partnership to drive a comprehensive digital transformation agenda in Benue State, on 10th December 2024, the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI). This strategic partnership aims to establish two study centers focused on Digital Economy and E-Governance Technology, alongside 23 digital hubs and the development of cutting-edge curricula.

To solidify this collaboration, on 17th December 2024, the BDIC Managing Director/CEO, Gbande Hembaor Terwase, led a high-powered delegation, including the Honourable Commissioner of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Honourable Kwaghgba Amande; the Director General of the Benue State Public Service Institute (BPSI), Prof. Tarnande, accompanied by his Director of Research and Publication, Dr. Nyitse Mark; and the Director of the University of Mkar Business School, Makurdi, Dr. Iorbee Simon, along with my management team, on a follow-up and working visit to the President/CEO of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) Abuja, Mr. David Daser, and his team. This visit was aimed at reaffirming the readiness and commitment of the Benue State Government, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, for the successful rollout of this transformative project in the first quarter of 2025.

 

 

Digital Transformative Benefits

  1. Job Opportunities The establishment of two study centers and 23 digital hubs will create numerous direct and indirect job opportunities across various sectors. This will contribute significantly to reducing unemployment and promoting economic inclusivity in Benue State.
  2. Skilled Workforce Development These initiatives will provide training in high-demand digital skills, ensuring the emergence of a workforce equipped to meet the challenges of the global digital economy. Programs will be tailored to equip participants with expertise in areas such as software development, e-governance, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
  3. Youth Empowerment The 23 digital hubs will serve as innovation hubs for young people, providing access to state-of-the-art tools, mentorship, and resources to build their capacity in ICT and entrepreneurship. This will empower youth to actively participate in and benefit from the opportunities in the digital economy.
  4. Support for Tech Startups These hubs will also act as incubators for tech startups, providing essential support such as affordable workspaces, access to cutting-edge technology, mentorship from industry experts, and opportunities for funding and partnerships. This will foster a thriving startup ecosystem in Benue State, promoting innovation and encouraging the growth of homegrown tech solutions.
  5. Boost to State GDP By nurturing a tech-savvy workforce and supporting the growth of tech startups, the state will attract local and foreign investments, fostering economic diversification and significantly boosting the GDP.
  6. Innovation and Economic Development The study centers and digital hubs will be key drivers of innovation, enabling local entrepreneurs and small businesses to leverage technology for improved efficiency, scalability, and market access.
