Benue State Government to Expand Digital Infrastructure in the State

In a monumental step towards advancing digital transformation, Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EVNT Technologies, a leading Saudi Arabia-based IT and solutions provider. This partnership, formalized during the 2024 GITEX Global Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, marks a significant milestone in the state’s digital agenda and aims to expand Benue’s digital infrastructure through the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC).

Governor Alia, speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, emphasized the importance of this collaboration for the state’s future. “This partnership with EVNT Technologies is a critical step towards realizing our vision of a truly digital Benue. It is not just about building infrastructure, but about creating opportunities, empowering our people, and laying the foundation for sustained economic growth,” he stated.

The partnership with EVNT Technologies is set to bring advanced IT solutions to Benue, focusing on infrastructure development, skills training, digital application development, and policy formulation. This comprehensive approach aims to equip the state with the technological capabilities necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Hamad Al Saleh, Founder and Chairman of EVNT Technologies, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, reaffirming his company’s commitment to supporting Benue’s digital transformation. “We are excited to bring our expertise to Benue. Together, we can make Benue a model for digital transformation in Nigeria and beyond,” Al Saleh remarked. He assured that his company would leverage its extensive experience in the technology sector to make a lasting impact on the state’s digital future.

The MoU includes a clear roadmap for the partnership, with both parties committed to the implementation of key initiatives within 90 days. This includes the establishment of digital infrastructure, capacity-building programs, and the development of digital applications tailored to the state’s specific needs. By fostering a tech-driven environment, the partnership aims to enhance governance, drive economic growth, and provide greater access to digital services for residents.

Governor Alia was accompanied to Dubai by the Managing Director/CEO of BDIC, Mr. Terwase Gbande, the Honourable Commissioner for Communications, Technology, and Digital Economy, Hon. Kwaghgba Amande, and the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT and New Media, Mr. Angula Bishop Reuben. Their participation underscores the state’s strong commitment to leveraging global partnerships to fast-track its digital agenda.

As the partnership takes shape over the coming months, it is expected to have a far-reaching impact on Benue State’s economy and its residents. By advancing digital literacy, improving digital services, and providing the necessary infrastructure, the collaboration with EVNT Technologies will help position Benue as a leader in digital innovation within Nigeria and beyond.

This MoU signifies not only a commitment to the state’s digital future but also a long-term investment in the well-being and prosperity of its people. Through this strategic partnership, Governor Alia’s administration continues to demonstrate its dedication to building a robust digital economy for Benue State.
