Yesterday the Group Managing Director/CEO of Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) and President/CEO of Africa Digital Infrastructure Company (AfDIC), Gbande Hembaor Terwase AFCPN, hosted the management and students of Unique Secondary School on a courtesy visit to the BDIC Headquarters in Makurdi.
The visit was aimed at congratulating the BDIC leadership on recent appointments, commending the company’s digital transformation efforts in Benue State, and exploring areas of collaboration in digital literacy, infrastructure support, and ICT capacity development for the school.
Led by the School Principal, Mr. Sesugh Ortserga, the Unique Secondary School delegation showcased the institution’s digital progress, including online admissions, digital payments, CBT examinations, and e-results. The school expressed its desire for a formal partnership with BDIC, particularly in training teachers and students, equipping its e-library with computers, and integrating into ongoing youth digital empowerment programmes. The delegation also commended the Benue State Government for creating an enabling environment for digital transformation.
In his response, the BDIC GMD outlined the company’s integrated mandate covering digital software infrastructure, digital hardware infrastructure, and digital knowledge infrastructure. He emphasized that digital literacy is now a prerequisite for global competitiveness and confirmed BDIC’s readiness to train both teachers and students of Unique Secondary School, pending a formal request.
He also highlighted key BDIC programmes, including the training of 40,000 civil servants, the upcoming 23,000-youth digital skills programme in 2026, the Campus Technology Users Community initiative, statewide fiber and land digitization projects, and the One Student–One Computer–One Digital Skill initiative.
The visit featured interactive sessions with students and staff, who attested to the positive impact of ICT on academic efficiency at Unique Secondary School.
It concluded with a guided facility tour of BDIC. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening digital learning, expanding ICT infrastructure, and preparing students for future careers in the digital economy, marking the visit as a significant step toward deepening digital education partnerships in Benue State.
