Today, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC), Gbande-Hembaor Terwase, AFCPN, accompanied by his management team, formally delivered the last batch of critical hardware equipment required for the full take-off of the Benue State House of Assembly e-Parliament System at the Assembly Complex in Makurdi.
The equipment was officially handed over to the Chairman, House Standing Committee on ICT and Digital Economy, Hon. Samuel Ismaila Agada, and the Clerk of the Benue State House of Assembly, Dr. Bem Faasema Mela, marking a major milestone in the digital modernization of legislative processes in Benue State.
Speaking at the event, the GMD/CEO, Gbande-Hembaor Terwase, reaffirmed BDIC’s unwavering commitment to the Digital Transformation Agenda of the Benue State Government under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, noting that the e-Parliament project represents a strategic pillar in building a transparent, efficient, paperless, and technology-driven legislature.
He assured the leadership of the Assembly of BDIC’s immediate readiness to commence the full onboarding of all Honourable Members and legislative workflows on the e-Parliament platform, following the successful delivery of all required infrastructure.
“This initiative will fundamentally transform lawmaking, documentation, committee work, and legislative reporting, while strengthening transparency, institutional memory, service delivery, and citizens’ confidence in democratic governance,” Terwase stated.
Recall that late last year, the Benue State House of Assembly in collaboration with BDIC formally launched the e-Parliament System, followed by a comprehensive capacity-building programme for all Committee Secretaries and Directors on the effective utilization of the platform. As part of the implementation process, fully configured laptops were distributed to all legislative committees, ensuring seamless adoption and continuity of digital legislative operations.
The Clerk of the House, Dr. Bem Faasema Mela, Ph.D, commended the Benue State Government and BDIC for the timely delivery and sustained technical support, describing the project as a historic leap toward institutional efficiency, legislative excellence, and digital governance best practices.
The Chairman, House Standing Committee on ICT and Digital Economy, Hon. Samuel Ismaila Agada, equally lauded the initiative, emphasizing that the e-Parliament system will enhance productivity, accelerate legislative processes, strengthen oversight functions, and align the Benue State Legislature with global standards in parliamentary digitization.
With the completion of this final delivery, Benue State stands firmly positioned among the leading sub-national governments in Nigeria championing digital governance, smart institutions, and innovation-driven public service delivery.
Benue is going digital. The future of governance is here.
